Multiplier Component in Logisim
Multiplies two N-bit binary integers A and B and outputs the lower N bits of the product (Prod).

| Type name | Multiplier |
| Pins and defaults | a A (-40, -10), b B (-40, 10), out0 Prod (0, 0), width 4 (1..32) |
How the Multiplier Works in Logisim
The Multiplier component computes the binary product of two N-bit inputs A and B (default width = 4 bits) and outputs the low N bits of A × B on its right-hand Prod pin.
If either operand A or B contains floating (Z) or conflict (E) bits, the Prod output bus turns E. For 4-bit inputs (0 to 15), products up to 15 fit without overflow; larger products wrap modulo 2^N (modulo 16 for a 4-bit width).
Tip: If your product can exceed 4 bits (for example, 5 × 5 = 25 = 0x19), increase the Data Bits (width) attribute of the Multiplier and its input/output buses to 8 bits.
Multiplier Pins & Pinout
| Pin | Direction | Width | Location & Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| a (A) | Input (Upper-left) | 1–32 bits (default 4) | Offset (-40, -10). First multiplier operand A. |
| b (B) | Input (Lower-left) | 1–32 bits (default 4) | Offset (-40, 10). Second multiplier operand B. |
| out0 (Prod) | Output (Right edge) | 1–32 bits (default 4) | Offset (0, 0). Low N bits of the product A × B. |
