AND Logic Gate in Logisim
Outputs 1 only when every active input is 1 (Y = A · B); outputs a controlling 0 immediately if any input is 0.

How the AND Works in Logisim
The AND Gate implements logical conjunction (Y = A · B). Its output is High (1) if and only if all connected inputs are High (1); if any input is Low (0), the output is guaranteed to be Low (0).
In Logisim’s 4-state simulator, 0 is the controlling value for an AND gate: even if another input is E (conflict), a single 0 input forces that bit of the output to 0. Unconnected input pins (floating Z) are ignored so long as at least one input is actively driven; if all inputs are Z, the gate outputs E.
You can configure both the number of inputs (2 to 8) and the Data Bits (width 1 to 32) in the attribute inspector to perform parallel bitwise AND masking across buses.
Tip: AND gates form the product terms in Sum-of-Products (SOP) circuits synthesized from Karnaugh maps and compute the Carry output in a Half Adder.
AND Pins & Pinout
| Pin | Direction | Width | Location & Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| in0 .. in(N-1) | Input (Left edge) | 1–32 bits | Located at x = -50 (default in0 at y = -10, in1 at y = +10). Supports 2 to 8 inputs. |
| out0 (out) | Output (Right tip) | 1–32 bits | Located at (0, 0). Outputs bitwise AND of active inputs. |
